This Standard specifies requirements for a bright, aluminium coloured finish paint based on alkyd, phenolic or coumarone-indene resins intended to protect iron and steel against corrosion. Paint specified in the Standard is referred to in AS 2312 as Paint Reference No. 19. It may be suitable for application by brush, roller or spray. This paint will provide heat reflectance and medium-term protection from corrosion to suitably primed steelwork located in an industrial atmospheric environment.NOTES:1 This paint may be used as described for systems SP4-B, SP5-B, MP3-B, MP7-B and MSALP-A in AS 2312.2 Some paints may comply with Paint Reference No. 28 and be used for system HR2 in AS 2312.3 Alkyd aluminium paint may be provided with the aluminium paste as a second component, to be mixed prior to use.4 Appendix A contains recommendations and advice on information which should be provided by the purchaser at the time of enquiry or order.5 Care should be taken that aluminium paint is not used in an acidic or caustic environment. Additional information on the use and application of aluminium paint is provided in Appendix B.6 Alternative methods for determining compliance with this Standard are contained in Appendix C.
