    The objective of this Standard is to improve the safety of people performing any work near openings in floors, near the edges of floor or elevated level working surfaces not being roots of residential or commercial buildings. It provides guidance on the selections and use of equipment designed under the guidance of AS/NZS4994.1 and intended to prevent workers and other persons on there surfaces falling whilst performing any work or carrying out inspections on floors or other surfaces.

    This Standard specifies requirements and gives guidance for the selection and installation of edge protection complying with AS/NZS 4994.1, for persons working near an opening in a floor, or near a platform edge or floor edge prior to the installation of the permanent walling materials.NOTES: 1 Edge protection is used on buildings that are being constructed, renovated, extended, altered or maintained.2 Part 2 of this Standard specifies requirements for the installation and dismantling of roof edge protection.
