This Interim Standard sets out a qualitative test method for testing of potting mixes, composts and other solid matrices for Legionella species. It also provides a quantitative test method which may be performed in addition to thequalitative test,if desired.NOTES:1 The diversity of the matrix components may interfere with the recovery and detection of thetarget organisms of this method.2 This method preferentially targets the detection of Legionella longbeachae in the products.3 Flow charts of the procedures are shown in Appendix A and Appendix B.4 This Interim Standard describes the testing of samples as delivered to the laboratory andprovides some information regarding sample size and delivery conditions. The resultsobtained by testing do not provide a statement of safety or risk associated with theseproducts.
