1.1 This specification covers the composition and the physical properties of spray-applied mineral fiber thermal or acoustical insulation.

1.2 These mineral fibers shall be pneumatically conveyed to a spray nozzle where they are mixed with water. These mineral fibers shall have a binder either pre-mixed with the fibers or added at the spray nozzle with the water.

1.3 The spray-applied mineral fiber insulation is intended for use in building constructions at ambient conditions.

1.4 Limitations -This is a material specification only and is not intended to cover methods of application that are supplied by the manufacturer.

1.5 The following precautionary caveat pertains only to the test method portion, Section 8. This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
