1.1This test method covers the visual measurement of the color of thermally stable solids melting below 150 °C of aromatic hydrocarbons, their derivatives, and related chemicals.
1.2It is applicable only to materials in which the color-producing bodies present have light absorption characteristics quite similar to those of the standards used. The scope of this method covers the range of calibration which is 0 to 100 Pt-Co color.
1.3The following applies for the purposes of determining the conformance of the test results using this test method to applicable specifications, results shall be rounded off in accordance with the rounding-off method of Practice E29.
1.4The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard.
