CONTAINED IN VOL 04.10, 2005 Determines moisture content in wood and is an alternative method for the oven drying procedure described in Sections 124 to 127 of Methods D 143. It should be used when wood contains volatile oils or oil preservative. It also determines the quantity of creosote/creosote-base preservative in treated wood.

1.1 This test method covers the determination of the moisture content in wood and is an alternative procedure for the oven drying method given in Sections 124 to 127 of Methods D143. Its use is required when the wood contains volatile oils or oil preservative. The test method also covers the determination of the quantity of creosote or creosote-base preservative in treated wood.
