1.1This test method covers the determination of the purity of isopropylbenzene (cumene) by gas chromatography.
1.2This test method has been found applicable to the measurement of impurities such as nonaromatic hydrocarbons, benzene, ethylbenzene, t-butylbenzene, n-propylbenzene, alpha-methylstyrene, sec-butylbenzene, and diisopropylbenzene, which are common to the manufacturing process of isopropylbenzene. Limit of detection for these impurities is 10 mg/kg (see 5.1). This method has been found applicable for concentrations of various components up to 571 ppm.
1.3In determining the conformance of the test results using this method to applicable specifications, results shall be rounded off in accordance with the rounding-off method of Practice E29.
1.4The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard.
