1.1 This test method covers the determination of linear density and maturity index of loose randomized cotton fibers by measuring the resistance to air flow of a plug of cotton fibers under two prescribed conditions.
Note 1-For other methods for determining linear density and maturity properties of cotton fibers, see Test Methods D1442, D1448, D1769, D2480, D3817, British Standards BS 2016, BS 3085, and ISO 2403.1.2 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety problems, if any, associated with its use.
