    1.1This test method covers a Ball Rust Test (BRT) procedure for evaluating the anti-rust ability of fluid lubricants. The procedure is particularly suitable for the evaluation of automotive engine oils under low-temperature, acidic service conditions.

    1.2The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses after SI units are provided for information only and are not considered standard.

    1.2.1Exceptions—Where there is no direct equivalent, such as the units for screw threads, national pipe threads/diameters, and tubing size.

    1.3This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use.
