Abstract - (Show below) - (Hide below)

CONTAINED IN VOL. 04.03, 2018 Defines the physical and chemical requirements of virgin or recovered foundry sand for use as a fine aggregate in asphalt mixtures.

Scope - (Show below) - (Hide below)

1.1This guide covers the physical and chemical requirements of virgin or recovered foundry sand for use as a fine aggregate in asphalt mixtures.

1.2This guide is for use by contractors, foundry sand suppliers, or other purchasers as part of the purchase document describing the material to be furnished. Those responsible for selecting the proportions for the asphalt mixture should have the responsibility of determining the proportions of foundry sand as a fine aggregate.

1.3The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard.

1.4The text of this standard references notes and footnotes which provide explanatory information. These notes and footnotes (excluding those in tables and figures) shall not be considered as requirements of this standard.

1.5This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

1.6This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
