1.1These test methods cover the atomic absorption determination of dissolved and total recoverable manganese in water and certain wastewaters. Three test methods are given as follows:
1.2Test Methods A, B, and C were used successfully on reagent grade and natural waters. Other matrices used in the study were brine (Test Method B), effluent from a wood treatment plant, and condensate from a medium BTU coal gasification process (Test Method C). It is the user's responsibility to ensure the validity of a test method for waters of untested matrices.
1.3The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system are mathematical conversions and may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other.
1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. For specific hazard statements, see 11.7, 20.2, 20.9, and 22.10.
1.5Former Test Method A (Colorimetric) was discontinued. For historical information, see Appendix X1.
