1.1This test method covers the determination of the temperature below which solid hydrocarbon crystals may form in aviation turbine fuels.

1.2The reporting range of freezing point test results considered valid for the applicability of precisions (r and R) and for the purpose of the test result reporting in accordance with Practice D6300, is –71.2 °C to –36.5 °C. See 12.1.3 for the ILS summary and how the reporting range is calculated from the lowest and highest achieved ILS sample averages.

Note 1:The measuring range of the apparatus is from –80 °C to 20 °C; however, the precision has not been determined using results outside the reporting range in 1.2.

1.3Units—The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard.

1.4This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
