CONTAINED IN VOL. 12.02, 2001 Specifies procedure for calibration and characterization of primary terrestrial, silicon photovoltaic reference cells to the global reference spectral irradiance distribution specified by Tables E 892. Recommended physical requirements are outlined in E 1040. Reference cells are mainly used to determine electrical performance of a photovoltaic device. Calibration takes place outdoors in natural sunlight by reference to a pyranometer used for measuring global irradiance.
