1.1This specification covers the requirements for unalloyed titanium, Ti-6Al-4V, and Ti-6Al-4V ELI alloy powders for use in fabricating titanium and titanium alloy implants.

1.2Powders covered under this specification may be used to form coatings by sintering or thermal spraying techniques, or in metal injection molding or additive manufacturing.

1.3This specification covers powder requirements only. It does not address properties of the coatings, implants, or components manufactured from them or any manufacturing methods therein.

1.4Finely divided titanium powder may be considered pyrophoric and should be handled in accordance with the appropriate guidelines.

1.5The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system are not necessarily exact equivalents; therefore, to ensure conformance with the standard, each system shall be used independently of the other, and values from the two systems shall not be combined.

1.6Any agreement between purchaser and supplier must meet the minimum requirements of this specification.
