1.1This guide defines the organizational structure, policies, and procedures required to operate a certification program in the field of search and rescue.
1.2Certifications are used by authorities having jurisdiction as a component to their credentialing process, typically to demonstrate one component of an individual’s ability to field.
1.3Certifications are typically provided by third party, disinterested providers and are commonly used to validate an individual’s, team’s, or authority having jurisdiction’s training program in a particular area.
1.4This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use.
