Abstract - (Show below) - (Hide below)

Classification and performance of motors forming part of the electrical equipment of battery operated trucks, tractors and road vehicles. Rail vehicle motors are excluded.

Scope - (Show below) - (Hide below)

This British Standard specifies the classification and electrical and mechanical performance of d.c. electric motors, having rated voltages up to 96 V, forming part of the electrical equipment of battery operated industrial trucks, tractors and road vehicles for operation at ambient temperatures between −25 °C and +40 °C and at altitudes up to 1000 m. An additional requirement for motors intended for use for rheostatic and regenerative braking is included.

This standard does not cover motors for rail vehicles and motors for road vehicles which obtain power from an external source or from an internal source other than batteries. (These are covered by BS 173.)

This standard does not cover protection requirements for motors intended for use in areas of special risk, e.g. flammable atmospheres of gases and vapour, ignitable dusts.

NOTE. The titles of the publications referred to in this standard are listed on the inside back cover.
