This Part of BS 2468 describes the terminology and definitions used in relation to the cultivation and processing of soils for arable and horticultural crops, but excludes equipment for land reclamation and equipment for sowing and planting.

Although the classification is similar to that used in ISO 3339-0, details of some of those items have been omitted because they are not considered to be in general use in the UK. These items are marked with an asterisk (*). Some general definitions have also been included although these are not part of ISO 3339-0.
