Specifies requirements for tickings, manufactured from cotton or from rayon staple, which are suitable for covering mattresses and pillows used in hospitals and institutions and by the Services. The mattresses and pillows are specified in BS 1818, BS 1819 and BS 1899. The standard deals with materials, manufacture, pattern, finish and identification; values are prescribed for threads per inch, yarn counts, percentage of foreign matter, weight per square yard, breaking load and colour fastness.
