Gives requirements for single and three-pole electromagnetically operated contactors suitable for high altitude and wide temperature conditions or suitable for lower altitudes and narrower temperature conditions either hermetically or non-hermetically sealed in the range 25 A to 600 A used in nominal 28V d.c. and 115/200V three-phase 400 Hz a.c. systems in aircraft.

This British Standard specifies the requirements for single and three-pole electromagnetically operated contactors, in the range 25 A to 600 A for use in nominal 28 V d.c. and 115/200 V three-phase 400 Hz a.c. systems in aircraft.
Two environmental classes and two enclosure categories are specified as follows.
- Environmental classes
- Class 1. Contactors suitable for high altitude and wide temperature conditions.
- Class 2. Contactors suitable for lower altitudes and narrower temperature conditions.
- Enclosure categories
- Category A. Hermetically sealed contactors.
- Category B. Non-hermetically sealed contactors.
