This standard specifies chromium-vanadium steel wire rod, wire and springs (high duty ground wire, hardened and tempered) for aerospace purposes.
Wire conforming to this specification is suitable for high duty dynamically stressed springs. For other applications where hardened and tempered springs are required, wire conforming to the latest edition of British Standard S 203 ought to be used.
