Describes floor treatment machines for household purposes. Machines not intended for normal household use, but which nevertheless may be a source of danger to the public, are within the scope of this standard. Excludes machines provided with a liquid dispensing system, machines intended to be used in locations where special conditions prevail and sanding machines. Machines used in vehicles or on board ships or aircraft, additional requirements may be necessary. Additional requirements for upholstery shampooers are under consideration. Attention is drawn to the fact that in many countries additional requirements are specified by the national health authorities and the national authorities responsible for the protection of labour.
