Specifies a paper-chromatographic method for determination of phosphate types in liquid and powder detergent formulations (including soap powders). The phosphate considered are orthophosphate, pyrophosphate, tripolyphosphate and 'higher phosphates', meaning those with four or more phosphorus atoms per molecule or ion. Any trimetaphosphate is included with 'higher phosphates'.
