This International Standard applies to hand-held mains electric motor-operated spray guns with integral containers and motors, which can be either reciprocating motors or rotary motors, intended for household and similar use, both indoors and outdoors, for the spraying of non-flammable liquids. This standard defines the principal performance characteristics of spray guns which are of interest to the user, and describes the standard methods for measuring these characteristics.

Safety requirements for hand-held electric spray guns are covered by IEC 745-2-7.

This standard does not deal with safety requirements nor does it prescribe limits of acceptance for performance.
