This British Standard specifies a method of test for the measurement of tensile elastic recovery of all types of single filaments or fibres when subjected to tensile strain applied by a constant-rate-of-extension machine. No special pre-treatments such as mechanical cycling or relaxation of internal stresses by immersion in boiling water are specified, although they may be required for some special purposes. This method does not determine the elastic recovery from a given stress.
