Abstract - (Show below) - (Hide below)

Smoking parameters defined and specific standard conditions to be provided for the routine analytical machine smoking of cigarettes. Requirements are specified for a routine analytical smoking machine complying with standard conditions. Ambient air velocities surrounding cigarettes in a routine analytical smoking machine, mechanical design of enclosures immediately surrounding them and methods of air velocity measurement including the location where the velocity is measured are in Annex A. Annex describes the special characteristics of a typical smoking machine incorporating a piston type of puffing mechanism as an example. Annex C illustrates definitions and standard conditions of a puff profile in a diagram.
