Method of measuring and recording, data processing and normalization at two levels of sophistication (frequency weighting, spectral analysis). Results can cover single events or noise exposure over period. The noise is treated either as intrusive or as part of other background noise. Applicable to noise certification, monitoring, land-use, planning.
