Gives a screening method for evaluation of biodegradability of organic compounds at a given concentration by anaerobic microorganisms.Test conditions do not necessarily correspond to optimal conditions which allow the maximum value of biodegradation to occur as the dilute sludge used has a relatively high concentration of test chemical. Applies to organic compounds with known carbon content which are soluble in water, poorly soluble in water, provided a method of exact dosing applies and does not inhibit test microorganisms at the chosen concentration. Special arrangements are necessary for volatile substances. BS AMD 10321 RENUMBERS STD
