Describes a method by reduction and titrimetry using a standard volumetric mercury(II) nitrate solution in the presence of dithizone as indicator for determining sulfur compounds content of sodium carbonate for industrial use. Suitable for products having a sulfur compounds content, expressed as sulfate (SO2-/4), equal to or greater than 5 mg/kg.
