Describes a reduction and titrimetric method using standard volumetric mercury(II) nitrate solution in the presence of dithizone as indicator for determining sulfur compounds in sodium hydroxide for industrial use. Suitable for products where the content of sulfur compounds, expressed as sulfate (SO4), is equal to or greater than 5 mg/kg.

This International Standard specifies a reduction and titrimetric method for the determination of sulphur compounds in sodium hydroxide for industrial use. The method is applicable to products of which the content of sulphur compounds, expressed as sulphate (SO4), is equal to or greater than 5 mg/kg.
