This International Standard provides a terminology of elements of the profile shape of saw teeth for woodworking and establishes a designation system for the profile shape of saw teeth.

It is not intended to standardize certain tooth types.

This International Standard deals with saw blades for hand saws or machine saws for woodworking.

The designation system established in this International Standard is not applicable to saw blades with hard metal tips.

Annex A gives the English terms defined in this International Standard, listed in alphabetical order, and the equivalent French terms.

NOTE – In addition to the terms given in two of the three official ISO languages (English and French), this International Standard gives the equivalent terms in Italian in annex C; these have been included at the request of Technical Committee ISO/TC 29, and are published under the responsibility of the member body for Italy (UNI). However, only the terms given in the official languages can be considered as ISO terms.
