Gives a method to assess the airborne noise emitted by electrical household appliances. Applies to dry pick-up portable electric vacuum cleaners supplied from mains or batteries. Does not apply to centrally sited vacuum cleaners, vacuum cleaners designed exclusively for industrial purposes, the wet pick-up function of multi-purpose vacuum cleaners, and suction floor polishers. Covers references, terms and definitions, measurement methods and acoustical environments, instrumentation, operating and location of appliances under test, measurement of noise levels, calculation of sound pressure and sound power levels, information to be recorded and information to be reported.
