Appendix
A. Recommended functions and predicates
It is intended that implementation of a floating-point system can be realized entirely in software, hardware, or combination of both. It specifies basic and extended floating-point number formats, add, subtract, multiply, divide, square root, remainder and compare operations, conversions between integer and floating-point numbers, conversions between different floating-point formats, conversions between basic format floating-point numbers and decimal strings, and floating-point exceptions and their handling, including non-numbers. Excludes formats of decimal strings and integers, interpretation of the signs and significant fields of NaNs, or binary to decimal conversions to and from extended formats.
