Describes the programming language APL and the environment in which APL programs are executed. Facilitates interchange and promotes portability of APL programs and programming skills. Specifies the syntax and semantics of APL and the characteristics of the environment in which APL programs are executed. Also specifies requirements for conformance to this standard. Does not specify: required values for implementation limits such as numeric precision or APL workspace size; implementation properties that are likely to vary with the particular equipment or operating system used; the facilities available through shared variables; and the data structures used to represent APL objects.
