This British Standard specifies the requirements for material and dimensional tolerances of steel studs and channels used to tan the framework for gypsum wallboard lined metal stud partitions and wall linings, where the gypsum wallboards, complying with BS 1230-1, conceal the metal framing and are secured to it by screws. It does not specify the number, size, profile and metal thickness of stud and channel selected.
This standard does not include components for frame and sheet partitions, panel partitions, frame and panel partitions or components for use in stud and sheet partitions where facings other then gypsum wallboard are used. Structural strength is not specified.
