Specifies four main types of machine-made shellac based on different methods of manufacture. Each type is graded on the basis of colour. Requirements for matter insoluble in hot alcohol are given along with optional requirements for: volatile matter, wax, ash, lead and grit content, matter soluble in water, iodine and acid values, heat polymerisation and flow tests.
