Outlines methods of sampling and determination of the sorbency of materials used for controlling liquid spillages. Various materials of different composition and format are employed. Methods cover any liquid, aqueous/miscible with water or non-aqueous immiscible with water and any type of sorbent materials. Also included is a test which distinguishes between absorbents and adsorbents.
