This Draft recommends additional features, over and above those specified in BS 5655 : Part 1 and Part 2, which could with advantage be incorporated into lifts installed in public buildings and public areas. Recommends suitable performance criteria without reference to methods of achieving them. Not relevant to observation lifts. Covers machine room, well ventilation, landing door construction, landing and car door installation, vision panels, locking of car doors, door reversal mechanism, sight guards, astragals, sills and their fixings, emergency unlocking of landing doors, car entrance, bodywork, illumination, control panel, position, and other, indicators within the car, traps in car roof and car ventilation.
