Abstract - (Show below) - (Hide below)

Applies to torsion bars made of steel for anti-roll bar systems used on railway vehicles.

Scope - (Show below) - (Hide below)

This British Standard specifies requirements for the marking of transit information, by the consignor, on transit packages for distribution. It is applicable to general cargo such as individual packages of goods in transit, e.g. cases, crates, drums and sacks, and to consolidated groups of packages intended for an individual consignee.

This standard is not applicable to bulk cargo or transit processes requiring identification of transit packages by contents only (e.g. in the food trade). Pictorial and textual marking of handling information is not included (see BS 2770), nor are the requirements for the marking and labelling of dangerous goods.

Guidance on the use of the marking in relation to different modes of transit is given in appendices A to E.

NOTE. The titles of the publications referred to in this standard are listed on the inside back cover.
