    Applies to string insulator units of the long rod type having insulating parts of ceramic material to be used in a.c. overhead power lines with a nominal voltage in excess of 1000 V, with frequency not in excess of 100 Hz. Also applies to insulators of similar design, used in substations. Gives specific values for electrical and mechanical characteristics, and main dimensions of ceramic string insulator units of the long rod type.
