Applicable to single yarns (one twist), also to folded or cable yarns (two or more twists). Only usually applies to folded and cabled yarns to the final twist step. Applies to package-wound yarns, but not to products manufactured from staple fibres. Only gives an indicative result for yarns taken from a beam (or warp) or from a fabric.
