The main dimensions, number of fittings and location, materials and quality of manufacture for small weatherweight steel hatches for application on board ships in order to ensure interchange- ability of the hatches are specified in this International Standard. Remaining dimensions are left to the manufacturer. The hatches are suitable for access to storage compartments, dry cargo holds and for loading operations. They are not suitable for access to any kind of tanks and shall not be used as Generally conform to International Convention on Load Lines 1966 (LCC66). Application to position 1 and position 2 has to be for each situation and, where necessary the hatch covers shall be provided with additional stiffening. Compliance with ship rules and regulations must be used in conjunction with this Standard.
