Abstract - (Show below) - (Hide below)

Applicable to linear detachable keyboards for stationary use. Gives guidance on the designing of keyboards used for typical office procedures, in order to consider the limitations and capabilities of users. Also gives guidance based on ergonomic factors for keyboard layout arrangements, physical characteristics of individual keys and overall design of the housing which contains the keys. Defines procedures for testing conformance by measurement of the physical attributes of a keyboard. In addition, it includes a proposed alternative test procedure for keyboards not conforming to the physical design requirements and recommendations, based on a user performance test and subjective rating scales.
