Abstract - (Show below) - (Hide below)

Preface This is the first edition of CSA C871, Performance of LED replacement lamps. The requirements in this Standard have been developed in accordance with NEMA SSL-4, SSL Retrofit Lamps: Suggested Minimum Performance Requirements. It is expected that non-mandatory high performance levels will be included in future editions of this Standard as per final ENERGY STAR® specifications. CSA Group acknowledges that the development of this Standard was made possible, in part, by the financial support of Efficiency Nova Scotia, Hydro-Québec, Manitoba Hydro, Natural Resources Canada, the Ontario Ministry of Energy, the Ontario Power Authority, and SaskPower. Scope 1.1 This Standard defines minimum energy efficiency and performance requirements for light emitting diode (LED) lamps with an ANSI or IEC standardized base that are designed to connect to a low-voltage or branch circuit via a lampholder. The criteria in this Standard apply to both integral LED lamps of nonstandard form, and to those intended to replace standard general service incandescent lamps, decorative (candelabra-style) lamps, and reflector lamps. Note: Safety requirements for LED replacement lamps are provided in CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 250.13. 1.2 In this Standard, \"shall\" is used to express a requirement, i.e., a provision that the user is obliged to satisfy in order to comply with the standard; \"should\" is used to express a recommendation or that which is advised but not required; and \"may\" is used to express an option or that which is permissible within the limits of the standard. Notes accompanying clauses do not include requirements or alternative requirements; the purpose of a note accompanying a clause is to separate from the text explanatory or informative material. Notes to tables and figures are considered part of the table or figure and may be written as requirements. Annexes are designated normative (mandatory) or informative (nonmandatory) to define their application.
