The structure of this part of ISO/IEC 15938 is as follows. Clauses 2 and 3 specify the terms, abbreviations, symbols, and conventions used in the International Standard.

Preface Standards development within the Information Technology sector is harmonized with international standards development. Through the CSA Technical Committee on Information Technology (TCIT), Canadians serve as the SCC Mirror Committee (SMC) on ISO/IEC Joint Technical Committee 1 on Information Technology (ISO/IEC JTC1) for the Standards Council of Canada (SCC), the ISO member body for Canada and sponsor of the Canadian National Committee of the IEC. Also, as a member of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Canada participates in the International Telegraph and Telephone Consultative Committee (ITU-T). For brevity, this Standard will be referred to as \"CAN/CSA-ISO/IEC 15938-13\" throughout. At the time of publication, ISO/IEC 15938-13:2015 is available from ISO and IEC in English only. CSA Group will publish the French version when it becomes available from ISO and IEC. Scope The structure of this part of ISO/IEC 15938 is as follows. Clauses 2 and 3 specify the terms, abbreviations, symbols, and conventions used in the International Standard. Clause 4 specifies the binary representation syntax and descriptor component semantics for a CDVS image descriptor. Clause 5 specifies the extraction and encoding process for a CDVS image descriptor. Annexes A-J specify information relevant to the encoding process of Clause 5. Annex K contains an informative description of the decoding process of a CDVS image descriptor. This part of the MPEG-7 standard specifies an image description tool designed to enable efficient and interoperable visual search applications, allowing visual content matching in images. Visual content matching includes matching of views of objects, landmarks, and printed documents, while being robust to partial occlusions as well as changes in viewpoint, camera parameters, and lighting conditions.
