The Standard, which cancels and replaces the CEI-UNEL 38143-71 table and is generally in conformity with IEC Publication 305 (1978) with some amendments and additions, applies to elements of hood and pin insulator chains with button/orbit coupling, with insulating parts in ceramic or glass material, intended for overhead lines or alternating current substations with a nominal voltage exceeding 1000 V and a frequency not exceeding 100 Hz.
