The Standard applies to fixed and portable plugs and sockets and to plugs and sockets for user appliances, with a nominal voltage not exceeding 690 V DC or AC and 500 Hz AC and for nominal currents not exceeding 250 A, intended primarily for industrial uses, both inside and outside buildings, for uses where the ambient temperature does not normally exceed 40°C.
