The European Standards of the EN 61291 series, derived, without any modification, from the corresponding IEC Standards (IEC Subcommittee 86C), apply to optical fiber amplifiers (OFA) and optically amplified elementary subsystems, using active fibers doped with rare earth elements as active centers.
