This Standard applies to energy controllers: - intended for use in, on or in combination with household and similar equipment; - intended for equipment used by the public, such as those used in shops, offices, hospitals, farms, as well as in commercial and industrial applications (e.g. energy controllers for commercial catering equipment, heating and air conditioning systems); - equipped with smart features (e.g. smart grid control, remote interfaces/controls of energy-consuming equipment, including computers and smartphones); - powered by alternating current (AC) or direct current (DC), with a rated voltage not exceeding 690 V AC or 600 V DC; - used in, on or in combination with equipment using electricity, gas, oil, solid fuels, solar thermal energy, etc., or a combination thereof; - used as part of a control system or mechanically integrated with multifunctional controls having non-electrical outputs; - using NTC or PTC thermistors, as well as discrete thermistors, the requirements of which are contained in Annex J; - mechanically or electrically operated, sensitive or capable of controlling characteristics such as temperature, pressure, time, humidity, light, electrostatic effects, liquid flow or level, current, voltage, acceleration, or combinations thereof; - including manual controls, when electrically and/or mechanically integrated with automatic controls.
