Preface This is the harmonized ANCE, CSA Group, and UL standard for Switchboards. It is the Fourth edition of NMX-J-118/2-ANCE, the Second edition of CSA C22.2 No. 244, and the Twelfth edition of UL 891. This standard has been developed in compliance with Standards Council of Canada requirements for National Standards of Canada. It has been published as a National Standard of Canada by CSA Group. Scope 1.1.1 This Standard applies to switchboards nominally rated at 1 000 V or less and intended for use in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I (CE Code, Part I), the National Electrical Code (NEC), ANSI/NFPA 70, and the Mexican Standard for Electrical Installations (Utility), NOM-001-SEDE. 1.1.2 In this standard the term switchboard is intended to refer to a dead-front switchboard. 1.1.3 These requirements do not cover the following switchboard types: preset and dimmer control (theater), live front, railway control or electrification; or constructions intended only for receiving motor control center units. 1.1.4 These requirements cover switchboards for use on circuits having available short-circuit currents of not more than 200 000 A. 1.1.5 These requirements do not cover switchboards with short-time current ratings.
