    Determines a method for polishing and etching test pieces of advanced technical monolithic ceramics, followed by the preparation of micrographs of the microstructure and methods of making measurements for the determination of grain size. Applies to single-phase ceramics, but not to those with more than 10% by volume of pores or of continuous glassy phase.
